Top 5 Games to look out for in 2015

Happy 2015 everyone! And what a great year it looks like it’ll be for the next gen consoles! So for all of you lucky people that got a console for Christmas, here’s a little list of what to keep an eye out for in the coming year…

1. Dying Light – Release date: 30/01/2015 – Available on PS4/Xbox One/PC

I have been awaiting this game for 2 years now and I can’t explain how excited I am that it comes out this month!

Dying Light is a zombie apocalypse parkour style horror survival game set in an urban environment overrun by zombies, who by day are docile but by night are fast, agile and hungry for your flesh. Fun right?

The game has a day to night cycle as well as a weather cycle going through fog, rain and wind. Your job is to scavenge during the day, you can set traps to help yourself out when the sun goes down and you need to get to safety.

With a range of 100 weapons to try out, including ones you craft yourself, what’s not to love in this epic parkour zombie apocalypse?

2. The Order: 1886 – Release date: 20/02/2015 – Only on PS4

Based in an alternative Victorian London with the use of futuristic weapons, the order of the knights fight to keep the world safe from Jekyll and Hyde type monsters.

The trailer speaks for itself with this one, with artistically beautiful cinematic game play, what’s not to love? Although if you like ‘shoot ’em up’ type games, this one may not be for you. The Order: 1886 incorporates cut scenes with QTE for continuous contribution to game play, as seen in this trailer below:

3. Dead Island 2 – Release date: Spring 2015 – Available on PC/PS4/Xbox One

This is the fifth instalment in the Dead Island series, but now it’s leaving the tropical island of Banoi behind and entering California for sunshine and slaughter. Developed by Yager Development and published by Deep Silver, this game looks to be as fun as the first lot.

This time round we have Max (whose feet we see coming out of the van in the trailer) and his cat companion, Rick Furry, who unlike the characters in the previous series is not immune to the infection. That’s where Bezerker, Hunter, Bishop, and Speeder, Dead Island 2’s collection of zombie-immune heroes come in. But you’re not alone slashing and hacking zombies, as there are other militarized factions as well as the US government there, waiting to gun you down.

4. Splatoon – Release date: Summer 2015 – Available on WiiU

Splatoon is fun for friends and family of all ages. It’s an 8 player game with teams of 4×4, and it even has a single player campaign.

The players enter arenas with their paint cannons and the winning team are the ones with the most areas covered. It’s simple, fun and very competitive. Your character can turn into a squid and swim through their teams coloured ink to refuel their cannon as well as to travel up walls, you can even shoot yourself to another area of the arena to finish what you started.

5. Minecraft Storymode – Release Date TBA 2015 – Available on all platforms

Minecraft is a game that we all know and love, and it really doesn’t matter what age you are. But Minecraft is finally getting a narrative, but it’s not from the creators Mojang. Telltale Games, the minds behind The Walking Dead series, will be releasing an episodic series of Minecraft in the near future on numerous platforms. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any actual footage yet, but if it flows from the original naturally, it is sure to be a success.

Check out the orginal Minecraft here:

So there you have it, a few of the top games to look out for in 2015!

I’m also looking forward to Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil and Bloodborne to name a few, if you want to see what else is coming in 2015, have a look at these lists: check out Stuff’s list here, or check out Game’s Calender here. And if you want to know just about the horror games, check out Bloody Disgusting’s list here.

Happy gaming!
